Empowering Indigenous voices to lead the conversation, digitally

The UWA School of Indigenous Studies is one of Australia’s most respected centres for Indigenous education, research and cultural engagement. Operating within the University of Western Australia, the School plays a pivotal role in amplifying Indigenous perspectives, fostering cultural understanding and empowering communities through knowledge.

Project Overview

CLIK Digital was engaged by the UWA School of Indigenous Studies to develop and deliver a campaign strategy that addressed one of the most sensitive and important challenges in our community: raising awareness about youth suicide among Indigenous teens, and highlighting the support systems available to help young people through tough times.

This was never going to be a standard marketing brief. It called for deep cultural awareness, thoughtful messaging, and an approach that put Indigenous voices at the centre, empowering community leaders to lead the conversation themselves.

For CLIK, it was a genuine privilege to be trusted with work that carries this much weight, and to help build something designed to create real and lasting change.

From functional to exceptional

The Challenge

Some conversations carry enormous responsibility, and this was one of them. Reaching Indigenous teenagers with a message about wellbeing and support means earning trust first, respecting culture at every step, and making absolutely sure the right voices are the ones being heard.

The challenge was twofold. Craft a campaign that could genuinely reach young people where they already spend their time, on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, and equip Indigenous leaders with the confidence and skills to carry that message forward in their own voice, long after the campaign itself.

Our Approach

As part of the engagement, we facilitated a half day strategic training session at the UWA campus, attended by Indigenous leaders and UWA professors. Working together, we presented campaign concepts and rollout strategies across multiple digital and social platforms.

We then delivered hands on training for Indigenous leaders to use their own social media channels effectively, covering everything from the fundamentals of how social media works through to practical demonstrations of creating engaging TikTok and Instagram content. The energy, collaboration and willingness to embrace digital storytelling in the room made the initiative a genuine success.

THE RESULT

Equipping Leaders. Empowering Communities.

At CLIK Digital, we feel privileged to have been part of a campaign for change. One that does not just raise awareness, but equips leaders with the tools to keep amplifying their own voices and reaching their communities for years to come.

By putting Indigenous voices at the centre and pairing strategy with practical skills, the campaign was built to keep working long after launch. That is the kind of impact that matters most, and the kind of work we are proud to support.

A Campaign Built for Lasting Change

I am incredibly grateful to the CLIK Digital team for the care, strategy and passion they brought to this campaign. They took the time to understand what we were trying to achieve and created a platform that not only raised awareness but gave our team the confidence and tools to keep engaging our communities long after launch.

Their collaborative approach and genuine commitment to making a meaningful impact made them an outstanding partner. We couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
